Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.
Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
-Rumi
Don’t you just love this quote? It’s such a great reminder for all of us! I wanted to focus on life changes and life transitions today since they’ve been on my mind a lot lately. Clinically, a typical transition takes about six months to complete. That being said, depending on the type of transition, this may be quicker or may take longer in your own life. For me, the six-month mark is a great gauge for how I’m doing during any given transition. I also like to use it when I’m struggling throughout a major life change as a reminder to give myself more grace and compassion, especially on those days where grief and loss are high. And, can’t we all use more grace and compassion everyday lives?
