With school having recently started here, I’d love to say that the stress in my life is lower now. But, as with all new school years, they also bring new stressors with kids being a grade level older. How’s your own motherhood stress right now, if you have kids in school or if you don’t have kids in school?
For me, as an introvert, when I’m feeling stressed in life, I often need some alone time to recharge. For me, some of my favorites include reading a book, going for a walk, watching a show, journaling, and doing a quite meditation. How about you?

Common Motherhood Stressors:
- Anxiety and worry- often about your kids
- Not being your best self- needing some alone time, especially if you’re an introvert
- No time for yourself- feeling like you’re always doing chores and tasks for others
- Perfectionism- wanting to do life perfectly
- Emotional disconnection- from your partner and kids
- No time for self-care- life feels too busy and too full
- Grief around time flying by- kids getting older
- Your wants and needs not often being a priority

Self-care for the tired mom- morning edition:
- Think of a daily mantra or affirmation- Be Here Now or Be Still
- Make your bed- little actions like these can make a big difference in your life
- Meditate- quiet or guided
- Journal- written or digital
- Go outside and focus on your five senses- practice mindfulness and being present in this moment in time
- Sit and enjoy your morning coffee or tea- something to warm you up from the inside out

Self-care ideas for the tired mom:
- Snuggle with your family pets
- Read a great book- fiction or nonfiction
- Watch your favorite show- Netflix anyone?
- Take a nap- more R&R please!
- Do some gentle stretches- can be very helpful before bed!
- Take a bath- add a relaxing scent
- Go to bed earlier than normal- and make sure you have a helpful transition to bed time too
