Grief sits at the heart of so many major life experiences, especially the ones you have little or no control over. A miscarriage or pregnancy loss. Infertility or secondary infertility. A birth that did not go the way you wanted or expected. The loss of a loved one.
Grief can show up in a lot of ways. You might feel shocked and angry about what happened. You might feel numb and disconnected from the people and the world around you. You might feel exhausted just going through the motions of your day, like you are moving through a thick, dense fog. You might feel overcome with sadness, to the point where getting out of bed feels hard. You might carry an aching pain throughout your body, or feel anxious about your future and where to go from here.
If you are a woman who has experienced a miscarriage or pregnancy loss, I understand what you are going through on a personal level, because I have been there too. You deserve a therapist who truly gets it, so you do not have to spend your energy explaining how deep the heartache goes. I will be here to listen, to empathize, and to support you through this difficult time. I will hold hope for you that things will get better.
If you are currently in perimenopause, you may be carrying a lot of grief right now too. This might be grief around getting older and missing the younger version of yourself. It might be grief about your changing body and the physical symptoms that come with it. It might be grief tied to kids leaving home, a relationship with your partner that is shifting, aging parents, or the loss of loved ones, all common transitions during this stage of life.
In our sessions, you will have a safe and supportive space to grieve in the way you need to grieve. We will focus on your feelings and emotions, your needs now, and your needs moving forward. Together, we will find coping strategies that help you get through this hard season, things like guided meditations, journaling, spending time outdoors, or connecting with others who have experienced a similar loss.
My hope for you is that by doing the hard work of grieving now and moving through the emotional pain that comes with it, you will be able to find your joy again as you come out of the grief fog.
